Areas of Learning
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework which sets out the requirements of the Early Learning Goals and the stages that need to be met in order to achieve them. The requirements of this document can be found by clicking on the link below.
Throughout the EYFS, our children take part in a broad and balanced curriculum which is designed to offer a range of experiences. A curriculum which offers our children progression opportunities to build, recall and apply their skills and knowledge to ensure that they work towards the Early Learning Goals and the stages that need to be met in order to achieve them.

The prime areas of the curriculum underpins all the other areas of learning and lay the foundations for children’s success. They are a crucial part of early development.
The specific areas include essential skills and knowledge for children and provide important contexts for learning.
Our curriculum provides opportunities to cater for individual needs, interests, and learning styles. It allows us to reflect on each child’s development and adjust our planning/practice accordingly. We work with each child, talking to them and observing them in play so that we can better understand their interests and learning needs and then plan activities to help them develop even further.
Children engage in a range of whole class/group and small adult-led group activities alongside their independent child-initiated learning. Our timetable allows for uninterrupted periods of continuous and enhanced provision that allow the children time to reach a deep level of involvement as they engage, play, investigate and talk. There are also allocated times for whole class daily carpet sessions.
Small focused adult-led groups are planned for to support learning. These are planned with clear outcomes in mind to meet the needs of each individual child. Allowing opportunities to introduce new knowledge, support previous learning experiences and develop skills in certain areas.
Children are encouraged to use the resources independently, selecting and putting away equipment as appropriate. Within the areas of continuous provision, resources are freely accessible to the children and are open-ended. Whilst within the areas of enhanced provision, resources based around a key topic or an interest are carefully selected to provoke the learning.
